In a complex topography of natural stone and man-made architecture, this residence is as much about texture as it is about lighting. The exterior is rooted in its natural stone façade, which is very much textured and substantial, and the lighting provides a refined contrast that is at once subtle and deliberate. The Antique Brass Garden Spike Light and Bollard Spike by Havit is right at home in the landscape, with its warm colors more akin to the patina of the stone than in competition with it. At sundown, the lighting becomes softer, caressing the garden beds, steps, and plantings, and allowing the materials of the residence to "breathe."
In the vicinity of the points of entry and the terraces, the LED wall lights in antique brass extend this language upwards, stitching the landscape to the building façade with rhythmic regularity. In terms of lighting, the interior design shifts from ambiance to architecture. The Nella surface-mounted downlights deliver clean and even lighting to specific areas, while the integrated LED strip lighting in the kitchen, bar, and sauna areas generates depth, definition, and a sense of luxurious subtlety. The result is a home in which the outdoor lighting and the indoor lighting appear to have a relationship, in which stone, brass, and light are combined to establish the experience of the space both day and night.
